The Joys of Wallpaper Removal
Anxious to preserve the plaster walls, Lisa takes matters into her own hands. Layers of wallpaper and paint add to the challenge, as if 15′ x 15′ rooms with 10′ ceilings weren’t enough. You never know how large a room is until you remove wallpaper.
The process involved careful scraping of the walls with a razor blade wallpaper scraper. The next step was to mist the walls with a solution of vinegar and water and scrape off the remaining wallpaper with a wide blade putty knife. Finally the walls were washed to remove the paste in preparation for painting. Each room took about a week to 10 days depending on the number of layers. Amazingly, the walls are in good condition and need only minor patching.
