A Gourmet B&B on Virginia's Eastern Shore

The Inn at Onancock

We’re Official Residents of Onancock

We closed on our home in Northern Virginia, sorted our household goods and placed them in storage, and moved to Onancock full-time. Well, at least Lisa has. Kris will stay with friends while he continues to work until his retirement at the end of the year. The new house consists of the barest of furnishings - a bed, plastic chairs, card table, clothes, computer and tv. All the comforts of home. The up side is that Lisa’s time can be spent focusing on construction and business plans for the b&b.

We’re aiming for a contract with a contractor by the end of September, or more likely, the beginning of October. The window is narrowing to get the addition started and closed up before winter sets in. The opening date for The Inn hinges on the construction so, of course, we’re anxious to get things started.

We are continually surprised and delighted with the town. After dinner last night at one of Onancock’s fabulous restaurants, Armando’s, we took a walk with Sam (our dog) and enjoyed the balmy night, refreshing breeze and brilliant stars. This little town quietly draws you in more every day. I know we’re going to love it here.

    Hi Julie and Paulina,
I’m glad you like the website. Busy isn’t the word — I met with the architect and assorted other experts today for our final meeting (6 hours) prior to putting out the bid for contractors. Hopefully, that will be done next week. In addition, I met with the kitchen designer last Friday to finalize the details for the kitchen. This week, I’m selecting bathroom fixtures and the rest of the kitchen appliances. We can’t wait to see you again.
    Love,
    Lisa
