Inn & Keepers

Meet the Keepers

Matt and Kim have dreamed of owning a bed and breakfast for over a decade, but thought that it would not be possible for many years. Recently, though, a friend counseled him “not to wait until you retire to live your dreams.” That advice, coupled with some other favorable life circumstances, inspired them to pursue their dream now. Their search led them to The Inn at Onancock and it is the perfect realization of that dream.

Matt and Kim hail most recently from the north shore of Boston where they both served as nonprofit executives. They each have high-level professional skills, but also possess true servants’ hearts. Their goal now is to use their personal gifts, their professional experience, and their love of people to create a warm, welcoming destination for their guests.

Kim is a genial and thoughtful host. An avid cook and gardener, her passion for good food and her gift for hospitality nourishes not just the body, but also the mind and spirit of all who enter her home. Matt is an enthusiastic cyclist, on both road and mountain bikes. He is actively engaged at his local church and has served on several nonprofit boards. His quick wit and dry sense of humor keep family and friends highly entertained (at least he thinks so!). Matt and Kim both love to be on the water, fishing or just exploring their community by boat. They both will lavish care and attention to detail on every aspect of your experience.

We have a new addition to our family! His name is Dante and he is a German Shepherd puppy. At six months he tips the scale at a modest 66 pounds, but his soft heart and calm demeanor make him a beautiful addition. We keep Dante in our living quarters until he is perfectly mannered.

Freya, our older German Shepherd (Dante’s great-great aunt, we believe – Freya’s mother is Dante’s great grandmother) got very sick quickly and died in October of 2017. Those guests who had the opportunity to meet Freya knew of her tenderness, her elegance, and her temperament. She helped us start the Inn, she warmly welcomed our guests, and enjoyed sitting in the circle of conversation at Wine Down as much as any of us. She will always be a part of this place and in our hearts.

This is our home and we gladly open it to you. Our purpose is to make every effort to support you in making this time away exactly what you need it to be: a romantic getaway, an escape from your frenetic pace, an exploration of a not-so-far-away quaint seaside community, or a fun and activity-filled excursion.

We look forward to meeting you and to helping make your trip all that you need it to be.

Many thanks and safe travels,

Matt
