Wonderful welcome

Reviewed June 4, 2020 via mobile

My Bircher, sister in law and I visited in September 2019. We are from the UK near London so sadly we can’t com back to revisit at the moment.
We loved our stay with Matt and Kim they were incredibly hospitable with breakfasts to die for and the wine down hour as standout features. They’re recommended a boat for us to go out on and it was wonderful and great restaurants within walking distance. We loved the quiet community feel of Onancock.
We are well travelled and I can definitely say that this was the only stay where it felt right to hug the hosts as you left. That is a thing of the past but I hope reading this will help others understand how special Kim and Matt make their guests feel.

Another wonderful stay at our favorite Inn

Reviewed May 22, 2020 via mobile

Kim and Matt welcomed us back for the fourth time to their wonderful inn. In spite of recent statewide shutdowns, the Inn at Onancock is back open and better than ever. The hosts are taking extra special care of guests in light of the pandemic, and I’m honestly not comfortable staying anywhere else. There is so much to do on the area including beaches, wild ponies, wineries and breweries, and a front porch to relax upon. As of mid-May, restaurants are open for outside dining.

We stayed in the Provence room this time, my new favorite (I say that about every room!).

Be sure to arrange for Matt and Kim to take you out on their boat for a sunset cruise. Always a highlight.

I’ll attach some photos of our trip below:More

Perfect Relaxing Getaway weekend

TripAdvisor.com Review July 4, 2019

Overall 5/5

The Inn is a historic home beautifully restored, very comfortable and clean. We were there for the weekend to celebrate a very special occasion. Kim and Matt were the perfect hosts. We felt welcomed from the moment we entered. They made our weekend truly memorable by adding special touches such as baking my favorite cake and picking flowers from her garden. They graciously attended to every detail that we did not even think of. We looked forward to the 5:30 wine down and the incredible breakfasts because we enjoyed the conversations with Kim, Matt, and the other guests. Dante, their beautiful German Sheppard, also joined us. It felt like being with family. Kim is a fabulous chef. She asked about food allergies or favorite foods and made sure that all was accommodated. Kim and Matt knew the area and amenities well. They made recommendations on things to do and places to dine. Once we decided, they made the reservations for us. In the morning, we were greeted with a tray of coffee and tea. They had other drinks and coffee available 24/7. The town of Onancock is on the water so we were able to enjoy going kayaking and boating. It was truly a friendly, relaxing and beautiful place to stay.

Excellent B&B. Would recommend to anyone visiting the Eastern Shore.

A gem on Virginia’s Eastern Shore

TripAdviser.com Review June 2019

Overall 5/5

A gem on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, The Inn at Onancock is a delight from the minute you arrive. Innkeepers, Matt and Kim welcome you into their tastefully appointed Inn, followed by a brief tour and description of the “Wine Down” time at 5:30, with your choice of carefully selected reds, whites, and Rose that you will not likely find where you make your purchases. Kim is an excellent Chef, preparing delicious bites and dips for your pleasure to be enjoyed on the cozy side porch.
The guest rooms are lovely, with beds that are so comfy, you won’t ever want to leave.
Onancock is a delightful small town located on one of the most beautiful tidal waters on the Chesapeake Bay. There is an abundance of shops, historic sites, and restaurants to keep you engaged for several days.

Excellent B&B

TripAdviser.com Review June 2019

Overall 5/5

A top notch B&B run by Kim and Matt. It’s a great place to base a trip to Tangier Island. Nice rooms with great A/C which was critical due to the very warm weather when we were there. They run this little “Wine Down” deal at the end of the day which is a great transition to dinner- just an easy walk down the the street. They ensure that you are well briefed on the options for dinner (Including who is open on Monday nights) and other sights in the area. They go out of their way to smooth out the bumps on traveling. First rate! (the coffee is in hall 24/7 and they put a fresh pot out by your room in morning)

Lovely town and accomodations.

We stayed in Onancock for two days while biking the Le Tour De Shore bike event. Matt and Kim were wonderful hosts. Early breakfast on the day of the bike event and more leisurely fare the morning after. They served drinks and hors d’oeuvres before sending us off to dinner. We have no food allergies, but another guest did and Kim was careful to provide delicious items that everyone could eat. The food was wonderful and we were well cared for. We stayed in the Provence room which was very comfortable.

Our six night stay was just wonderful. Kim and Matt were gracious and welcoming in every aspect. Kim’s attention to detail makes you feel at home and relaxed. The gourmet breakfasts are amazing. We’ve never experienced cooking at this level at other B&Bs. The “wine down” is a perfect way to meet other guests before sharing breakfast. It is full of generous pours, delicious hors d’oeuvres and good conversation. Kim put together a list of suggestions for local activities and restaurants which was most helpful. We couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful experience to celebrate a special birthday.
We look forward to a return trip.

Best inn I have ever stayed at!!

TripAdviser.com Review May 2019

Overall 5/5

If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. It is that much better than every inn I have ever stayed at. The rooms are spacious, themed and beautifully outfitted. Coffeemaker available 24/7 in the hallway, but you still get a fresh pot of the BEST coffee delivered on a tray outside your door at 7:30AM. Wonderful 3-course breakfasts (not including the muffin option available each morning). Kim and Matt could not be more down to earth, genuine, and gracious. We became quite friendly with two other couples staying at the inn and extended a 1-hour “wine session” to two hours of lively conversation with our hosts. When we all came back from dinner at roughly the same time and stood in the parlor talking, my wife mentioned she was heading up for a cup of decaf when Kim said she would make a pot and asked if anyone else wanted some, too. They have the most wonderful shepherd, Dante, who I got to play with by chasing him around the house as he hoarded his toys. The location is quiet but convenient to everything. Onancock was our favorite town during our circumference travel of the Eastern Shore and this Inn was a big part of that. Matt and Kim are a gift to travelers, and I would travel there just to stay at this exquisite and special place even if I didn’t love the town as much as I did. Truly a must experience.

We enjoyed a fabulous 2-day stay at the Inn at Onancock. It’s a lovely house in a great location, and the hosts, Kim & Matt, could not be more hospitable. We enjoyed the daily “wine-down” hour, the marvellous breakfast, the thoughtful 7:30am flask of tea or coffee at our room door, and we really enjoyed spending time with our hosts. We had a lovely room, it was quiet, comfortable and clean. Onancock is an interesting place too, and we’re already planning a return trip to the US so that we can go back to the Inn.

We visited the quaint small shore town of Onancock for the Eastern shore garden tour. Our overnight stay at the Inn of Onancock was lovely. The Inn is a beautiful Victorian home walking distance to the town center. Innkeeper’s Kim and Matt are wonderful hosts, creating a warm, relaxed environment. The inn is meticulously clean with cozy common areas and beautiful wrap around porch. Kim and Matt pay attention to detail from the signature “wine down” happy hour with fresh hors d oeuvres and a choice of wines and beer, to the delicious homemade breakfast. We have visited many bed and breakfast’s across the country and the Inn at Onancock is one of our top choices. Looking forward to staying again!

We just returned from this lovely Inn after a couple of friends invited us to join them for a get away during dreary February. Wonderful home! Kim and Matt are most gracious, we enjoyed meeting and chatting with. Coffee at your door each morning and a delightful breakfast too. Wine and snacks at late afternoon to “wine down.” Flowers everywhere and a beautiful blooming “paper bush” just outside the door in February! Great little town with plenty of small shops and eateries, most still open in winter. Treat yourself and visit this lovely B&B.

Overall 5/5

My husband and I just spent a beautiful weekend at the Inn. It was the best B&B experience we’ve ever had, and we’ve been staying in B&Bs for almost 30 years. Kim and Matt were so gracious and welcoming. The inn itself is in a beautiful house. Part of the house is the original section, built in the 1800s. It has been restored perfectly, retaining the character and charm but with enough modern touches so it doesn’t feel overwhelmingly stuffy Victorian. The bedrooms are in a newer section, but they also have tons of charm and character. Our room (the WIlliamsburg) had a gas fireplace and a huge air tub…wonderful for relaxing after a long day of exploring. Kim’s culinary skills are amazing. She made wonderful homemade snacks for “wine down hour,” served in front of a cozy fire in the main living room. Breakfasts were also heavenly…delicious egg dishes, a spread of fresh fruit with yogurt, granola, and other toppings, homemade muffins, and a plate of still-warm, fresh from the oven homemade shortbread cookies each morning. The inn alone would be worth the trip, but the town of Onancock is also a great place to visit. There are several restaurants and pubs, which are a short walk from the inn. Antique shops, art galleries, a movie theater, and playhouse line the main street, along with a great bakery serving fresh goodies hot from the oven. There are lots of other small towns nearby, and the beaches and wildlife refuge at Chincoteague and Assateague are only a short drive away. We loved spending the days exploring and then returning to the cozy comfort of such a beautiful inn. We can’t wait to return!

We were greeted by the Innkeepers, Matt and Kim, who offered to help with luggage and provided a beverage upon arriving. We missed the daily wine/ hors d’oeuvres hour, but heard they were wonderful from the other guests. We stayed in the Provence room, which was beautifully appointed and had a queen bed. The sheets and towels were very high quality, as well as the provided toiletries. The bath had a huge claw-foot tub, meant for soaking and relaxing. The room also has a fireplace, which we were not able to take advantage of since it was summer and 95 degrees outside. The Inn is downtown and a short walk to several local restaurants. A scrumptious, homemade two-course breakfast was served at 8:30am, and Kim even offered to share recipes with one guest who requested them. A couple of guests were vegetarians, and their needs were accommodated without issue. Overall, a very enjoyable stay. Only thing to consider before booking is how firm your plans are, as the cancellation policy is fairly strict.

Wonderful large rooms with private baths , and lots of public space along with porches and a patio that provide opportunities for relaxing or socializing with other guests. The Inn at Onancock filled the bill for both ofnus…and WAY BEYOND.
We were greeted by Kim, the part owner and hostess , as we pulled up to her amzing Victorian BnB. WARMTH and HOSPITALITY !
We arrive during the Wine Down hour. Delicious rose (red or white or tea, etc.) Fresh hor d’ourves completed the wine. We enjoyed meeting the other guests, sharing stories and a connection that we all shared. Amazing!
The rooms were up to date and furnished with everything you would need to work or play.
The baths were spacious and modern, but never lossing the victorian charm. We slept great.
Breakfast, from coffee at your door first thing, to fresh made soufflés, fresh fruit and yogurt, and other wonderfully hand made treats. And , fresh, warm out of the oven, shortcakes to end the meal.
IT WAS ALL AMAZING. Next trip…all play!
Close to Chicateaque and Cape Charles, Tangiers Island ferry dock is walking distance to the Inn. Great restaurants, shops and quiet!

TripAdviser.com Review July 2018

Overall 5/5

Kim and Matt have become friends. We stayed 2 nights at the Inn on recommendation from friends and we are so glad we did. Let me start by saying that the Inn itself is beautiful and beautifully appointed. I cant decide if my favorite place to sit was the living room, the library or the front porch. Every where I was I get like I was home.

Breakfast is amazing…one day we had a feta spinach frittata and the next day an egg soufflé with cheese and jalapeños. But that’s not all, there were blueberry muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, homemade granola, juice, coffee, tea. IN the early morning, tea or coffee is delivered to your door while you are getting up.

Wine Down in the afternoon was an unexpected treat. There are light appetizers (hummus, cheeses, tapenade) and wine to enjoy with the other guests. Perfect relaxing time after a day of touring.

We have visited many B&Bs and none measure up to the Inn at Onancock. Will definitely go back. Thank you Kim and Matt for a wonderful stay.

Great B&B located ina beautiful Eastern Shore town

TripAdviser.com Review July 2018

Kim and Matt run a fantastic B&B in a really nice small town on the Eastern Shore. The room are decorated perfectly and the grounds are very nice. We stayed for three nights and each morning the breakfasts were different but equally good. One morning Kim served the best blueberry muffins I’ve ever eaten.

I’ve always felt that the best thing about staying at B&Bs is meeting the innkeepers and other guests. Kim was very good at introducing patrons to each other whenever possible. The 5:30 pm Wine Down Hour was also a good opportunity to talk with the innkeepers and patrons. I looked forward to the excellent wine and horderves.

For a small town, Onancock has very good restaurants, a move theater, interesting shops and the North Street Playhouse. It’s also close to Chincoteague and walking distance to the ferry to Tangier Island. Kim and Matt were very helpful in planning activities.

We have been “coming home” to Onancock for the last three years and each time we stay at the Inn at Onancock. Every aspect of our stays has met the same impeccable standard of our first stay. The Inn is beautiful; each room has it’s own individual charm. We love the Tuscany room. Breakfasts are amazing and my gluten-free needs have been catered to on each and every visit. My husband has enjoyed watching sporting events while I read on the beautiful wrap around porch.
Last visit, I left behind a favorite pair of black pants and Kim called to assure me they’d be in the mail before I even had time to notice them missing. This Inn is the “best of the best” in B&B accommodations.

Expedia.com Review June 2018

Overall 4/5

The home is lovely, the hostess fantastic, the wine down happy hour fun and delicious, and the breakfast out of this world. A nice town and good restaurants. However, we should have picked a different room. The only King bed is on the third floor which has a set of very narrow stairs not to suited to older clients. The room has a lovely tub, but no shower and again for older people hard to bathe when a step in shower is much more suited. The room was not as cool as the first two floors which made for a restless night. If we had been informed of these characteristics we would have been happy to be in a queen room. But we still had a good time and would recommend staying there.

We’ve stayed at over 50 top rated B&Bs over the years and this is in the top five! Impeccably clean and maintained- a must for us. The bath was one of the best with a bubble jet tub which was essential after the long bike ride. Although the exterior is Victorian, the interior is an eclectic mix of styles which blend comfortable furnishings so you feel right at home. The front porch and gardens are true delights for lounging or visiting with your B&B friends along with Kim and Matt for the evening Wine Down. The breakfast was top notch with freshness, preparation, variety and superb flavor. Kim was very attentive but never in the way, as some owners who hover (you folks know what I mean). What a nice surprise to see our names on a welcome board at the door upon arrival but the best treat was your morning drink of choice (about an hour before breakfast) waiting on a tray in the hall outside your room.
The only problem during our stay were the four pillows on our bed which were very dense so we tossed and turned during the night. (Pillows are very personal so we’ll bring our own from now on.) Anyway, we recommend that the innkeepers provide softer options to visitors; maybe two of the four of a different texture. Admittedly, we did not mention this to the innkeepers so they did not have the opportunity to remedy the situation, which I know they would have.
This B&B is a true treat and we highly recommend it!!

All the rooms in this B&B are lovely. Our bed was so comfortable with great linens and really soft towels in the bathroom. The whole inn was immaculately clean. Kim was fun to talk with and had good information about the town, where to eat, etc. She is very gracious. She was happy to talk with you as much as you wanted and happy to leave you alone! We very much enjoyed the social hour and talking with the other guests and indulging in the wonderful snacks and good wine (or beer). Breakfast was fabulous. And she puts a tray of coffee (or whatever your preference is) outside your door at 7:30 so you can enjoy it while getting ready. She mailed a book to us that my husband had left behind and we had even realized we didn’t have it. Unfortunately we were there on a Monday and much of the town is closed (stores, restaurants) Even so, we went to 2 art galleries that were open and had great conversations with the artists which included a lot of history of the town. We had dinner at the Italian restaurant and it was really good. We love this town and will be back to stay at the Inn. Thanks Kim for a wonderful time.

This is one of the best bed and breakfasts I have visited. Lovely house and grounds with a nice wrap around porch for relaxing and taking in the small town charm of Onancock, and a lovely semi hidden patio area.

Our room, the Far East, was tastefully decorated and although small had adequate space for luggage and clothes (in a fine old armoire). The bathroom was spacious and modern with nice amenities including a jacuzzi. Both bedroom and bathroom were scrupulously clean and well lit without being antiseptic. Best of all the bed was truly comfortable as were the linens.

Food – both the hors d’oeuvres at 5:30 and breakfast the next morning – was excellent. Our hostess, Kim, outdid herself at breakfast with eggs on avocado toast and bacon, a lemon glazed coffee cake, amazingly light shortbread cookies warm from the oven, and a gorgeous fruit cup. My wife said the coffee was outstanding too.

But the best part of our stay was interacting with Kim and Matt and their lovable German Shepherd, Dante. Spending time with Kim and husband Matt before dinner on Saturday and at breakfast was truly a pleasure. Together with the other guests it made for delightful conversation. Kim and Matt could not have been more gracious and helpful, even going so far as to invite my sister in law to join us for the evening “wine down” even though she was not staying at the inn. It was nice to be reminded in these divisive times that true civility is still possible.

My only regret? We could only stay for one night.

The Inn is a beautiful home in the quaint town of Onancock. Each guest room is unique and has its own bathroom. We stayed in the Tuscany Room which was very comfortable. Our bathroom had a shower, no tub. The owners of the Inn, Kim and Matt, are very friendly and enjoy spending time with the guests. Kim provides a daily “wine down” at 5:30pm and is not to be missed. Kim has beautiful gardens and the wine down might be on the comfortable porch or in the garden. She provides a variety of wines and home made appetizers, and joins the guests for conversation and advice about local events and businesses. Kim obviously enjoys her town and wants her guests to have a great visit there. She delivers your choice of coffee, tea, or juice to your door at 7:30am and then serves breakfast a 8:30am. She is a great cook and the breakfast is different every morning and always amazing. It’s great to sit at the dining table with the other guests and eat wonderful food together. She booked some tours for us (ferry ride to Tangier Island, kayak to Chatham winery, and boat ride to view ponies in Chincoteague) and her recommendations were excellent. The almost part… we stayed on the third floor and for seniors the last set of steps was narrow and difficult to navigate, because of the roof line there is no shower just a soaking tub which again is awkward for seniors. The room was also too warm. But we would definitely go again just stay in one of the rooms on the second floor. A lovely home and town.

The three course gourmet breakfast was outstanding and featured fresh local ingredients (Kim is a gifted chef). The afternoon “wine down” was truly a delight. All three couples enjoyed their lovely rooms and the attention to detail throughout the Inn. Be sure to enjoy the outdoor spaces and gardens meticulously tended by Kim. Don’t underestimate this beautiful village and all it has to offer in terms of accommodations, dining, culture and outdoor activities.

The Inn at Onancock

TripAdviser.com Review May 2018

It is a pleasure to highly recommend The Inn At Onancock. This is the place to be for a relaxing stay in a historic house close to a Eastern Shore town dating back to the 1600s. The Inn Keepers, Kim & Matt couldn’t have been nicer and their attention to detail and focus on comfort at the Inn is evident everywhere. And they provide (Kim is a talented cook) an excellent three course breakfast along with a pleasant wine social in the early evening. What a nice place to hang your hat for a few days.

A perfect location in a gem of a town: we needed longer!

We arrived at the Inn at Onancock on a Sunday afternoon following a full weekend for the innkeepers but they made hospitality look effortless. Kim graciously shared some “wine down” time with us and filled us in on the house history and a little of their journey to become innkeepers. After a good night’s sleep, coffee and tea arrived at our door on schedule – so nice. We enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast complete with shortbread cookies straight from the oven (pictured).

This is a comfortable, picture-perfect inn and you will not be disappointed.

This B&B is one of the best we’ve stayed in. Kim pays attention to details and makes sure she understands our preferences and needs (decaf beverages, low cholesterol breakfast). Loved the private coffee service in the morning. She showed us every room that was available that night and let us choose the one right for us. Love the heated towel rack idea, will have to use it next time, never saw one before. The We loved the location of the inn, also, can walk every where in town. We want to come back and canoe and bike. This stop at this B&B made our journey home from a month in Florida more tolerable.

Matt and Kim are the greatest hosts. My wife and I, and another couple, came for a Valentine’s Day getaway. We felt so welcomed from the very minute we arrived. They had arranged roses, wine, and chocolate covered strawberriws for our spouses. What a great touch. The wine down in the late afternoon was nice to get acquainted with the other guests. The best recommendation for dinner at the Charlotte. Awoke to the smell of fresh muffins and bacon from the magnificent kitchen. If you are looking for a relaxing stay, amazing rooms, great people, and delicious food you can’t go wrong with the Inn at Onancock.

OMG !

KIm and Matt are superb hosts. The rooms are all unique and super comfortable. I’ve enjoyed 4 of the 5 rooms so far.

My first visit was in August, 2017 and I’ve returned 4 times since then.

Kim’s gourmet breakfasts are beyond mouth-watering.

The daily “wine down” hour (soft drink options are available) is not to be missed.

As Kim and Matt say, ” Arrive as guests, leave as friends”.

Perfectly wonderful!

TripAdviser.com Review January 2018

Overall 5/5

I stayed at the Inn at Onancock on three separate occasions – in August 2017, November 2017 and January 2018 – and all three visits were wonderful in many ways.
The entire inn is lovely – each room is very charming and comfortable and there are enough modern touches throughout the inn that it does not feel at all like a dusty old place decorated by your great-grandmother. The rooms with big Jacuzzi bathtubs are my favorites. The innkeepers, Kim and Matt, are delightful and attentive to the guests by creating opportunities to socialize but also respecting privacy if that is preferred. The freshly brewed coffee/tea delivered each morning outside your room is a fabulous touch (especially for those of us who are better off after a cup or two). The yummy breakfast (I’ve had six) includes a start of yogurt with delicious granola, fruit and other sides. The main course can include amazing eggs, French toast or pancakes, PERFECT BACON (straight, crispy, but not burned) and Kim’s outstanding muffins and shortbread cookies. The Wine Down Hour includes a great choice of red and white wine or other beverages, special (not boring) appetizers and good conversation with Matt, Kim and guests.
The town of Onancock is an artsy little fishing village with a great personality. It has several very good restaurants, especially Charlotte for romance and Mallards for fun with the locals. In August, I enjoyed kayaking, going out on a boat near Tangier Island, and seeing the Chincoteague ponies. In November, we attended an oyster roast and wine-tasting amidst the fall colors. This month, on a short visit, I savored the last of the incredibly charming holiday decorations throughout the town – I want to go back next Christmas to attend the house tours and see the kayaking reindeer on the wharf!
Whether you are coming to the area for pleasure or business, alone or with that/those special someone(s), you will find the Inn at Onancock the perfect place to relax and have fun in a very pleasurable setting and, if you are like me, you will definitely plan on returning. You may even make a friend… or three!

We loved our stay at The Inn at Onancock! The inn is charming, clean and beautifully decorated. We stayed in the Far East room, which made us feel right at home as we lived in China for a while. The breakfast was fresh, homemade and delicious. We happened to be the only guests that evening and the innkeepers shared the wine hour with us, making us feel like friends, not paying guests. We strolled through the town and along the docks, pretending that we lived in Onancock. We even looked through real estate brochures as we wanted to move next door and become better friends with the innkeepers. We were there on a road trip through a part of the country we had not been to before. Now we are looking for an excuse to come back to Virginia and to Onancock and the Inn.

We have stayed in many B & B’s –all over the country. We immediately felt at home upon our arrival as we noticed the small chalkboard on the porch that said “Welcome” and listed us by first names along with the other guests for the day. That feeling continued. Kim and Matt are warm, attentive, thoughtful, interesting hosts. Their home is beautiful and tastefully decorated. Amenities like the beverage of our choice appearing on a tray outside of our door first thing in the morning made us feel totally pampered. The pampering continued at breakfast. Wow! Kim knows her way around the kitchen, and uses her considerable talent and creativity to the guests’ advantage. We were there for three days and had a different, delicious, and beautifully presented meal each morning. The breakfasts were especially enjoyable because we had met our fellow guests the evening before at Wine Down. Each evening, Kim and Matt host a 5:30 gathering of guests in their gracious living room or, weather permitting, on the wrap around porch. No out of a box wine and cheese and crackers in this house! We had our choice of nice reds or whites to accompany creative and tasty appetizers that Kim made daily. Each evening they were different. We lingered over these with lively conversation, getting to know the other guests. Concerning the town, Onancock is a small, quiet town but we found plenty of enjoyable and relaxing things to do and places to dine thanks to Matt and Kim’s guidance. On the way home, we started to brainstorm “excuses” to come back. This B & B is truly not to be missed!

Kim and Matt are the live in owner/hosts. They are amazing. First a warning: If you are a big B&B stayer – then this place may ruin every other B&B you go to – as the bar they will set for other is WAY HIGH.

The rooms are modeled after locations – we stayed in the Tuscany Room. Outside the rooms is a 24/7 coffee/tea/coco and beverage center – all complimentary. But who would need it – with Kim as the hostess.

Each morning a private tray of your favorite hot beverage is door side for you, but then you come down for a four course \gourmet breakfast with chilled juices, hot beverages, FRESH BACK moments ago, Spice Breads, hand whipped Greek yogurt with fresh sliced fruits, granolas/oats, nuts, coconut, and honey… And that is just while you are enjoying the moment… then MAIN ENTRE… Each morning (we stayed four days) was a delightful surprise of dishes we have never seen before or eaten at the finest of restaurants. Hand cooked to perfection, with a fruit garnish.

Whether it was poached eggs on a bruschetta and avocado/cottage cheese toast, or a soufflés, or some other dish of substantial character and taste… we were full and never needed to buy lunch during our travels — and I can have an appetite. SAVE ROOM THO… the meal is finished off with a nice freshly baked treat that just melts in your mouth and is light but flavorful. I will not ruin the surprise for you here – just trust me —- OMG moment.

We actually could not wait to get back to the Inn by 5:30 to enjoy the WINE DOWN time either on the porch, or in the living area, dependent on weather… Kim serves a never ending wine glass of your choice… and some fresh made snacks… THIS IS NOT WINE AND CHEESE— This is Wine and Appetizer – and these are treats you don’t get anywhere else – but make you want to skip dinner on the way out.

The fact is — we had a hard time finishing dinners while we went out each night, because Kim fed us so well. The wine probably didn’t help either. (Side Note: NOT A BAD MEAL IN TOWN … EVERYHTGNI IN TOWN WAS GOURMET STYLE TASTE AT AFFORDABLE PRICES – I can’t believe Onancock is where all the chefs’ went.)

This by far is the best B&B we have ever gone to and the best week experience we have had for food and atmosphere — and we just returned from two years of the Caribbean, Switzerland, Spain, and France related trips.

Onancock in of itself is a charming little town, best visited during an event or festival – or if you want a close place to stay while visiting the horses or a rocket launch in Chincoteague without the tourist traffic or crowd or want to catch the ferry to Tangiers… that said – We will go again and we will stay at the Inn — even if we are not there for Onancock — but something within a 30-40 drive it is worth it.

Other Rooms: Library and TV Room, Living Area with Fire Place, Dining Room, Two Porches, and a Patio Garden.

We have spent two nights at Kim and Matt’s B&B and couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful experience. Our hosts were gracious, kind, generous and creative. The stunning Victorian home is spotless and the rooms are super clean and tastefully furnished. The breakfasts were delicious and the hosts offer afternoon “wine” social, that seems to be quite popular. We loved the fact that the B&B has a pet-friendly room, and although we did not bring along our pet, we have enjoyed the company of the owners’ friendly dogs. We had a wonderful time and this B&B and will recommend it in a heartbeat.

TripAdviser.com Review August 2017

I found this cute Inn after searching for a decent place to stay on our way to the Outer Banks. I became frustrated when nothing appeared only the average crappy hotels on the Rt13 corridor. Then the Inn appeared when I searched for dog friendly places. What a find. The Inn keepers are warm and inviting, the rooms clean & modern and best of all the ambiance & feeling you get the moment you enter their front door. Add the best breakfast I have had and then, if you are lucky to enjoy their wine tasting , even better.
Whether you stay a night, for a weekend or more, you will love this place.

This stay exceeded my expectations! We stayed in the Maine room. Climbing a few flights of stairs was worth having a private third floor. The room was well sized, with a big comfortable bed, and plenty of room for luggage. The bathroom was luxurious and the highlight was the spa jacuzzi tub. The extra spa touches included robes, bath salts, goat milk soap, a towel warner, and make up wipes – Kim thought of everything! The Wine Down Hour was not just a glass of what was open, Kim had a variety of wines and deliciously prepared hot hors d’oeurves for the group. We brought champagne and Kim provided us with an ice bucket and flutes. Breakfast was charming, both cold and hot courses, highlighted by warm muffins and fresh fruits. Coffee delivery at the door of our room at 7:30 made coming down to breakfast much more enjoyable. We couldnt have asked for a nicer stay!

We stayed at the Inn at Onancock for one night because we wanted to get an early start on the beach week. To say the we found a hidden gem is an understatement. I didn’t want to write this review because if I did everyone else would know about this great place.

The early “wine” down with fresh home made delicious hors d’oeuvre, meeting the other guests was great and simply good conversation in a warm friendly great room.

We got to meet our hosts, tour their gourmet kitchen, and find out about the town. They gave us recommendations for dinner and then took us to our newly renovated room with a private bath.

Dinner was spot on and just a short 3 minute walk from the Inn.

Coffee was brought to our door in the morning and breakfast was locally sourced fruit and eggs and bacon, and the most wonderful freshly baked muffins.

Oh and did I mention that they didn’t require a two night stay.

Two great owners and a fabulous evening with what felt like a impromptu dinner party with friends.

“THE BEST B&B EVER”

Reviewed 9/5/2017 on Yelp with a rating of 5 out of 5

THE BEST B&B EVER. Warning: If you stay at a lot of B&Bs then the Inn at Onancock will ruin all other B&B experiences for you, as none will ever compare to this ranked number 1 location.

The location which is in the heart of downtown and a two minute walk from everything great is a quaint old house with five quarters each with its own decorative charm and no short cuts. We stayed in the Tuscany Room and we were back in Italy each night.

The house has plenty of room to roam, a library, a large living room, and a dining room just off the immense gourmet kitchen. There are three patios (one small one for the 24/7 owners) which each have their own charm. Enjoying the nightly FREE Wine Down Time inclusive of your choice of magnificent wines (you will get tipsy) and hors d’oeurervs made fresh by the GOURMET CHEF/OWNER will amaze your palate and astonish your experience level. Thus is no wine and cheese on crackers thus is a daily taste of something different every Time. We had bacon wrapped apricots, bacon wrapped pickles, avocado and cream cheese bruschetta with citrus, and toasted pecans with a touch of heat.. to name just a few.

Kim and Matt are your host and they provide d us with a weeks worth of itinerary, making all the reservations for us at no extra charge… and not one bad recommendation… everything they told us to do and places to go and eateries to dine were amazing and beyond our expectations.

Oh yeah.. BREAKFAST… to die for. You will not need to buy lunch that is for sure. These freshly cut fruits with hand whipped Greek yogurt and oats nuts honey and coconut with raisin add ins are just the starter course. Each day a newly freshly baked spice bread followed by a breakfast entree of European flair and full bodied taste unsurpassed at any price… and yet it is included. Save room because it all ends with a shortbread cookie plate that floats on air but still has a crunch. Juices and coffee and tea are of course there too. And outside your room there is 24/7 complimentary coffee, tea, and soda service with water in addition to the early morning room service beverage tray.. also included in your nightly cost.

A must stay place. But once you stay here.. all others will be compared and never equal.

We have stayed at this Inn and have written previous reviews but wanted to let the owners and the public know how wonderful our recent stay was! It was a last minute decision to spend a night in the town we will soon be calling home. The inn was booked for the weekend but a cancellation came through in the Provencal room. We were greeted by Kim and Freya and were shown to our room. While this room does not have a separate shower it does have a claw footed soaking tub with hand held shower attachment that was a treat! The room itself was decorated beautifully, the chaise was so comfortable to relax with a magazine, and the bed itself not only looked inviting I slept like a baby. I’m a stickler for good bedding and this exceeded my own expectations! Every amenity has been thought of and provided. Access to water, coffee & tea is convenient but the fresh brewed coffee delivered to our room on Sunday morning was delightful and an added bonus! Wine down at 5:30 enabled us to sit with Matt & Kim for some great conversation and scrumptious appetizers and peruse the beautiful rooms, viewing the artwork they have on display and just enjoying the feeling of utter comfort. Breakfast the following morning was not a disappointment! Yogurt, homemade granola & fresh fruit to start, warm muffins, a feta & spinach frittata with bacon, fresh orange juice and their special blend of coffee put this stay over the top! Kim & Matt are the perfect hosts and keep improving on an already great thing! Onancock is a great little walking town and this Inn is centrally located to it all! When considering a place to stay this is it! You are in for a treat! Thanks Kim & Matt!

A walk to the bakery early in the morning gave us a special treat before a very special and delicious breakfast – the egg soufflé was incredible. All in all a perfect spot. My only complaint was we were not there long enough to do all I wanted to do. I guess that means a return visit in the future!

If you are looking for the perfect spot to explore the Eastern Shore of Virginia, book a room at The Inn at Onancock. We visited beautiful in for a birthday weekend celebration. Kim warmly welcomed us upon our arrival along with their pet German Shepard, Freya ( what a sweetie)!

Each evening at 5:30 “Wine Down” takes place. Kim serves three appetizers and multiple selections of wine are offered. This is included in your nightly price. Every morning, a tray with coffee was brought and left outside of our room to enjoy while getting ready for breakfast or to take out on the wraparound porch. These are added bonuses! The gourmet breakfast is served with homemade granola and fresh fruit along with warm muffins and delicious shortbread cookies are a great ending to the meal.

The weekend we visited, we made instant connections with the other guests. We really enjoyed everyone’s company and plan to keep in contact with them. This was made possible through the efforts of Kim and Matt who joined us each evening at “Wine Down.”

We are former innkeepers and critique the places where we stay. Only positives for this inn and the innkeepers! Thanks Kim and Matt for a memorable stay!

My husband and I just returned from an awesome stay at the Inn at Onancock.

The Inn is clearly a labor of love for hosts Kim and Matt. From the coffee outside the room door at 0730 to the delicious food and wonderful company, nothing was overlooked.

The Inn itself is really beautiful…Onancock is a charming town, the water is inviting and there is plenty to keep most anyone busy and wishing to stay longer. As a matter of fact, my husband and I have all but decided to retire here.

So, thank you Matt and Kim…we will be back.

Oh, the most wonderful surprise is Freya…what a wonderful ambassador for her breed!

The Inn is not just a beautiful building with a lot of flair, but the hosts are way more than just inn keepers who maintain a clean and neat house. Rather, they welcome their guests like old friends and create a very warm, welcoming atmosphere, turning their guests into a type of little family. Extremely helpful and full of suggestions if needed. It’s an outstanding place and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Stayed here three nights with my wife and had a fabulous time! Matt and Kim are excellent hosts and create an enjoyable atmosphere for their guests. From the tasty breakfasts, to the “wine down” hour, to the excellent rooms, we found this Inn and the town of Onancock a welcome respite. We stayed in the Williamsburg room, which had a comfortable bed and large bathroom, jetted tub with an elegant chandelier.

Walk (short) to several good restaurants in town, or drive a short distance to the island house or Chatham winery. We enjoyed the wine down hour and getting to know Matt and Kim and the other guests so much we didn’t want to miss it! Don’t worry about staying touch if on business because Matt made sure that the internet connection is reliable and fast. There is a charging port outside if you happen to drive your electric vehicle, and Matt and Kim make sure to buy locally grown food for their excellent breakfast. Locally roasted coffee outside your room in the morning is a nice bonus.

My wife called ahead of time and Kim provided concierge like service in getting us tickets to Tangier Island, restaurant recommendations, and reservations for a pony tour in Chincoteague. Thanks Kim and Matt!!

Room Tip: They are all different. Williamsburg has large bath with jetted tub and was quiet.

“A Local Getaway”

Terry and I had a last-minute notion to drive 40 miles from our home in Cape Charles and spend a night in Onancock. The Inn at Onancock looked attractive. We called and booked the last remaining room. The 5:30 wine and hors d’oeuvres gathering sounded so inviting that we changed our plans so that we would arrive early enough to attend. Our fellow guests were a diverse group but one which was quickly at ease with one another. Breakfast was a two course old-fashioned country delight. The room rate (plus tax) was the total cost of our visit. We left with the conviction that we would be back soon.

There are numerous thoughtful details throughout the Inn which enhance your visit, starting with the coffee tray sitting outside your door early in the morning and late afternoon wine served in the parlor. Kim is a gifted chef. The breakfast was sublime, with an egg souffle, sausage and muffins. Our room was well appointed, bright and pristine. The bed was perfect with lush sheets and down comforter. “An excellent inn to spend a night or two at with extremely gracious hosts”

5 out of 5 on Bed and Breakfast.com on May 5, 2017

We spent 1 evening here on our way home from a weeks vacation. My wife and I were so glad we did. From the moment we arrived Kim and Matt made us feel as if we were not guests but friends. Kim showed us to our room (Tuscany) and explained everything about the Inn and the amenities provided. Our room was well decorated and very comfortable. A selection of tea, coffee, sodas, and water was available for the guests.

We met our fellow guests during the Wine down hour. This was a chance to meet them while being served several appetizers Kim had prepared. There is a selection of wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks provided. On our visit we had a feta cheese dip and bacon wrapped apricots. Both were excellent and ‘hot from the oven fresh’. During the Wine down hour – which I believe as about 90 minutes – we got to know everyone and they got to know us. Matt and Kim shared their recommendations on restaurants and activities and we were glad we took them up on them.

The morning starts with coffee or tea served to your room which is a very nice touch. After the appetizers at the Wine down hour my wife and I were expecting a great breakfast and Kim did not disappoint. Fresh granola, yogurt, and berries along with blueberry muffins started the meal. This was followed by the absolutely best soufflé I have ever had. It was light and extremely tasty and served with a bit of fresh fruit and bacon. An phenomenal start to a day.

During breakfast Kim and Matt asked everyone of their plans and made more suggestions on things to do during the day. Matt even went and purchased ferry tickets for one couple.

The Inn is a gem and Kim and Matt are extremely gracious. We felt at home and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We look forward to returning and tasting more of Kim’s excellent cooking.

I highly recommend you stay at the Inn. You will not be disappointed.

We have stayed at the Inn several times in recent months while renovations have been underway at a property we recently acquired. I can tell that even when our place becomes habitable, we will seek out Kim and Matt’s company and (we hope) join them by pulling up a rocking chair on their porch!

Truly, you could not ask for more… Kim and Matt have done a masterful job in making their Inn a perfect gem. Details have been attended to yet nothing is “fussy.” Each room is unique in its character and wonderfully comfortable. As the sun fades, visitors join their hosts on the porch or in the garden with a glass of wine in hand. Somehow everyone feels as if they have known one another for years. Conviviality reigns supreme.

Breakfast adds a whole other dimension to the experience. It’s huge, varied, and delicious… and topped off with Kim’s signature buttery shortbread cookie. What a treat. If I sound enthusiastic it is because I am. Onancock itself is charming in every way – its waterfront, stately old homes, and historic landmarks. The Inn at Onancock extends all of that into a most pleasurable inn experience. Kim and Matt have set the bar high when it comes to inns and innkeepers.

Room Tip: just look at the Inn’s web-site, each room is unique

Green Features: Kim and Matt clearly care about Onancock and the Eastern Shore of Virginia. They are doing everything possible to preserve it and show their guests what a special place it is.

Call the Inn at Onancock a “Destination Inn,” because this place is really all you need – the solid foundation of a relaxing vacation. Owners Kim and Matt are pure class, great people. We felt at home from the moment we arrived, and we can attribute this feeling to many variables – first is two people clearly doing what they love to do, which is running an Inn, valuing the important things in life, and taking care of us. Second is the good taste and cleanliness of the well-appointed rooms. Third is the food, especially the wine aperitif. One of the other guests said breakfast “was like Christmas.” It all comes down to details, from the attentiveness of Kim and Matt, welcome note outside the entrance, to the generous portions of food and availability of coffee, tea, and drinks, and more. We felt comfortable, safe, and cared for, and loved walking around town down to the lovely wharf area. Onancock is a lovely place with a creative scene much greater than its size, and thanks to our experience at the Inn at Onancock, we honestly regret not being able to stay longer. My wife and I recently stayed at the inn for a 3 day trip to the eastern shore. I had given this as a birthday gift for my wife. The inn is very nice and is kept extremely well. The new proprietors, Kim and Matt are extremely nice and very accommodating. I had picked the Williamsburg room to stay in which was spacious and nicely decorated. Matt and Kim had left a dozen long stem yellow roses in the room for my wife seeing as it was a special occasion. The wine down at 5:30 every evening was a nice time to get to know all who were staying there and Matt and Kim. Unfortunately Kim went to Florida to celebrate her fathers birthday with all of her family so we only had a short period to visit with her. Both Kim and Matt do all they can to make your stay at their inn a very pleasant experience. They serve you coffee in the morning in your room at 7:30 before breakfast at 8:30. That is something I had not experienced in other B&Bs before. My wife and I had many long conversations with Matt about where they want to go with the inn and many other topics. They have a super friendly dog ( German Shepard ) Freya who is the nicest dog you would ever meet. Onancock is a quaint little town and you can walk to anywhere you may want to go, restaurants, coffee shop and other places within 15 minutes. My wife and I are already contemplating going back for another visit to do some things we didn’t get to while we were there and we would definitely stay with Kim and Matt again. My wife and I met another couple at the Inn for a B&B Weekend. I can’t say enough good things about the Inn itself and about Onancock as a weekend destination.

First, the Inn is an 1890s house just off the main street with excellent amenities, wonderful beds and enormous, relaxing bathtubs. But the best part are the new owners, Kim and Matt, who went out of their way to make us feel welcome and “family.” Kim’s breakfasts are to die for and the sitting room by the fire was a welcoming, warm place for us, our friends and the other guests. Just a superb place to stay.

The town is very walkable, there are a number of excellent restaurants (Kim will make reservations), antique stores and art galleries (and an art colony in the repurposed old junior high!) and the history is amazing. We are boaters, so we were interested in the developing harbor and its new facilities. Best donuts in Virginia at the Corner Bakery, just a few steps from the Inn. A great weekend getaway.

In addition to the wonderful rooms (we were in Tuscany) and delicious breakfast, we appreciated the other unexpected nice touches. Matt was flying solo this weekend with a full house and was the consummate host. It’s hard to imagine how the hospitality could have been improved with Kim in Situ but we were promised (by Matt) that she is even better at making guests feel welcome.

The Inn at Onancock is now the standard by which we will judge all future properties.

“Off-Season Getaway”

5 of 5 at TripAdvisor.com on February 27, 2017

My wife and I have a February tradition of staying a night or two at a pseudo-local hotel or B&B (we lived in Salisbury). We knew of this off-the-beaten-path B&B and decided to check it out, and we were glad for that decision during every minute of our time there! We were personally welcomed by our names on the chalk welcome board, as well as Kim opening the door to the heavenly scent of bacon cooking in the oven. Everything, from the evening hors d’oeuvres, to the room with Jacuzzi, to the three-course breakfast was excellent. Most of all, Matt and Kim are easily the best hosts we’ve even had at a B&B. They strike the perfect balance of being welcoming and hospitable, but also space to breathe. The Inn at Onancock is worth the trip, you need to check it out!

Room Tip: The Maine room has the biggest bed and nicest Jacuzzi tub.

Green Features: They offer guests a Tesla charging station. (we didn’t use it but it’s there)

“First time B&B experience was fabulous!”

5 of 5 at TripAdvisor.com on February 15, 2017

Matt and Kim have been led to Onancock and this beautiful B&B, They made us feel welcome and comfortable from the minute we arrived. Along with their sweet dog we were greeted at the door with warm southern hospitality. The house is beautiful and spotlessly clean. This is only surpassed by the amenities – offers of hot tea, Wine Down Hour in the late afternoon, coffee at our door in the morning, a delicious breakfast – the list is endless. We stayed in the Far East Room. It was very nice and the on suite bathroom with the spa tub was great. Kim made our dinner reservation for us at the Wharf and answered all our questions about the immediate area.
We will definitely be returning to the Inn at Onancock for a getaway and plan to bring friends with us.

“Our Anniversary with New Friends”

5 Stars on Facebook Review: Jan. 30, 2017

We are headed back from such a wonderful weekend at The Inn at Onancock, and we are not ready to go back to reality! Kim and Matt were such wonderful hosts, we felt more like we were visiting friends than just travelers spending the night. Such an amazing, quiet weekend away for our 17th wedding anniversary. Good food, wonderful accommodations and such a quaint town. Thank you Kim and Matt for helping to make it so special, we hope to see you again soon!.

“Must-Stay Location on Eastern Shore”

5 on BedandBreakfast.com Reviewed Jan. 30, 2017

We have stayed at the Inn at Onancock on five different occasions. It has become our go-to location whenever we are traveling up or down the Eastern Shore. The rooms are extremely comfortable (we have stayed in Tuscany, Provence, Williamsburg and Maine), but the real discriminator is the “Wine Down” hour with the owners and the other guests. Our latest visit was with the new owners, and we enjoyed our stay even more than previous visits.

“The entire house was beautiful and comfortable, with wonderful themed bedrooms”

This was a great experience in all aspects. The new owners, Kim and Matt, were delightfully accommodating. The Inn’s location was close to the center of Onancock, a few blocks from the wharf, and central to all of Eastern Shore Virginia. The breakfast were delicious. The furnishings were beautiful and comfortable, the rooms were immaculate. The weekend exceeded our expectations.

“A wonderful getaway in a beautiful bed & breakfast”

5 of 5 bubbles: TripAdvisor Reviewed Jan. 29, 2017

My wife and I are staying here with friends to attend alumni events in charming Onancock. The Inn is under new management since the last time we stayed here. Kim and Matt are the perfect hostess and host–friendly, informative and helpful. They immediately made us all feel like family. Their large female German Shepherd loves the attention she gets from new arrivals, but otherwise is “all business,” sniffing us and our luggage thoroughly as we checked in. This morning she made the rounds at the breakfast table as if to make sure we had what we needed. She’s so big that she could look down at our plates. No begging though. Once she was satisfied, she went back to the kitchen. As I sat down to write this review, she walked through the sitting room, looked at both of us, as if to verify that we were enjoying the peace, and then left. Fun!

The evening started with their “Wine Down Hour,” where we were served our choice of beverages which included beer, hard cider and some excellent wine. Kim served several delicious home-made hors d’oeuvres which included some wonderful marinated vegetables. We must get the recipe! Breakfast was just as scrumptious. I started with baked grapefruit which I loved. The buffet bar included granola, nuts, berries, just baked muffins, etc. The egg and cheese soufflé was to die for. One of the group chose an alternative to the soufflé and loved it.

You can choose your favorite morning beverage in the evening which is delivered to your door at 7:30 am. As I’m a very early riser, I appreciated the Keurig coffee machine across the hall.

The building itself is beautiful, inside and out. The proprietors have done an excellent job of maintaining the charm of the architecture and interior layout while adding modern fixtures. Our bathroom looked brand new. The shower operation is “interesting.” It reminded me of the challenge of showering in English hotels. But, with a little thought, I figured it out and loved it.

Onancock has its “Generica” strip (Walmart, Dollar Store, McDonalds, etc.), on the outskirts, but the historic district within a short walk has none of that. All the businesses are unique, local entities. There are several good places to eat and party and, if you’re an antique shopper, Onancock should be on your must-visit list. Just a few miles down the road is Turner’s Sculpture where you can see many breathtakingly gorgeous pieces.

The Inn is the perfect place to wind down, get away from the traffic and frustrations of life and work. We’ll return often.

“Birthday Gift”

We stayed at the Inn last night for my husband’s birthday. It was our first time at a B & B. Kim and Matt were wonderful, they were very welcoming and fun to talk with. Our room was just beautiful. We enjoyed the wine-down, complete with delicious snacks. They made us a dinner reservation at the Charlotte Hotel and Restaurant, which was excellent. The breakfast was terrific! Fresh fruits, yogurt, granola, fresh blueberry muffins, cheese soufflé, bacon and homemade cookies! We really enjoyed ourselves! Kim and Matt, we wish you much success with your new venture. You really love what you do, and it shows!.

“Wow!”

Wow! What a wonderful time we had with you “all”. Catherine and I have stayed at Bed and Breakfasts and Inns from the Mid Atlantic to Northern New England and you certainly set the bar for all others to follow. Your Inn, food and hospitality exceed all others. I felt when I first talked to you on the phone that something good was going to come out of our stay and I was not disappointed. We left yesterday thinking that we made new friends that we will keep for a long time to come. Catherine and I wish you the best of luck and success with your new life on the Eastern Shore of Virginia..

Kim and Matt are the most delightful hosts. They saw to our every need and were great folks to just sit and get to know. Our room was cozy and I loved the claw foot tub! The breakfast both mornings was absolutely delicious. Eggs Benedict and Belgian Waffles. New Years Day there were no restaurants open and Kim made us yummy chili. Just what we needed. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, as Kim and Matt serve with classy professionalism and down to earth love. We loved our stay and hope to return.

“Simply Outstanding”

From the little details as we entered to the greeting from Freya at the door, Kim and Matt were wonderful hosts. The food was exceptional and the room (Tuscany) was cozy and warm. Great restaurants are within walking distance and you aren’t far from other eastern shore activities. It was a fantastic get-away. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a great B&B experience.

“Beyond Perfection!”

We had not originally intended to stay in Onancock and had actually booked a room online at a Chincoteague B&B. We were surprised to get a call from the owner that their inn would not be open that week. LUCKY for us that we instead chose The Inn at Onancock. We were treated like we were something very special. Every need was anticipated…every detail attended. Kim and Matt were meant to be innkeepers. The room was immaculate and perfect. The bath was roomy and luxurious. Breakfast was a delicious combination of delights that fueled us for the day. We have stayed at many B&B’s over the years (46) and this one ranked very near the top. It is a jewel of a place in a jewel of a town. If you’ve never been to Onancock you will be amazed at its personality for such a tiny place.

“Winter Stop at the Inn at Onancock”

5 of 5 bubbles: Reviewed Dec. 17, 2016 – TripAdvisor Review

Kim and Matt are charming hosts. Attending to small details seems to be their forte. From the personalized welcome sign to the morning coffee left just outside our room door, they wowed us with their warm and gracious hospitality. We are not drinkers, but that didn’t phase them. At their evening Wind Down Hour, they offered us a scrumptious mocktail they’d been working on perfecting. It came with delicious homemade tapenade, crostini, and various yummy cheeses.

Our hosts made dinner reservations for us at a superb local restaurant called Bizzotto’s, which was a short walk from the Inn. Other local businesses within easy walking distance include a bakery, a playhouse, a movie theater, a few art galleries, and several restaurants.

We stayed in the Inn’s one dog friendly room with our canine companion. The room was lovely and pristine….featuring a private bath with a Jacuzzi. Breakfast was perfect…cranberry muffins, homemade granola over yogurt with fruit, and eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. We will be back!
